History

The year 1998 marked a quarter century of high-quality education for Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. It also represents another milestone: the launch of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Alumni Association.

The mission of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Alumni Association is Establishing, strengthening, and maintaining connections with Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences and its alumni.

Over the years, more than 17,000 Mayo allied health professionals have graduated from Mayo education programs. This large body of alumni represents an important group of allied health professionals, both to their programs and to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. Being a member of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Alumni Association has several advantages.

These advantages include:

  • Developing a voice in allied health professional education
  • Maintaining connections to Mayo Clinic
  • Learning about social and political aspects of health care delivery
  • Learning about health care delivery from the Mayo perspective
  • Keeping abreast of news about the specific allied health program and other programs of Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences
  • Having the opportunity for continuing professional education

Why do graduates participate in alumni organizations?

Among the reasons are pride in the program or institution from which they have graduated, a desire to remain connected to the parent institution, anticipation of reunion in the future, continued association with persons who share common experiences and goals, accessibility of continuing professional education, and a desire to ensure that the next generation of professionals have similar values and opportunities. Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Alumni Association endeavors to maintain connections with our alumni and enhance the sense of unity with alumni, Mayo Clinic and Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences.
