Mark Jon Knutson, 58, of Kasson, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017. Mark had a two-and-a-half-year battle with stage IV metastatic prostate cancer.
Mark was born on Dec. 21, 1958, in Owatonna, to Verna (Kitty) Kajer and Walfred "Wally" Knutson. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1977; he received a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1982; he also graduated from the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences with a degree in Radiology in 1991.
On April 7, 1990, he married the love of his life, Bethany Nelson, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, where they eloped. Together, they had two daughters, Mariah and Brianna, whom Mark thought the world of. Mark retired from Mayo Clinic in 2014, after 24 years of service as a Radiology Technologist.
He was a passionate hunter and fishermen; he truly loved the outdoors. Mark was an avid runner and participated in Grandma's Marathon in his favorite town of Duluth. Mark loved to spend time with his family; especially camping every weekend during the summer months and going to his favorite vacation spot in Mexico. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, the Wild, but most importantly, he loved watching his daughters play their sports when they were in high school. He was a loving father, husband, and a friend to all.
Mark is survived by his wife, Beth; their two daughters, Mariah Knutson of Rochester and Brianna Knutson of Kasson; his sister, Valerie (David) Halling of Rochester; his brother, Kevin Knutson of Faribault; his two stepbrothers, Klane (Shelly) Dushek of Owatonna, and Roger Dushek of Owatonna; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Kitty and Ed Kajer; his father, Wally Knutson, who passed away the morning before Mark; his stepmother, Marlene Knutson; as well as many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A special thank you to Seasons Hospice for their loving care and support.
