career immersion programMayo Clinic School of Health Sciences’ Career Immersion Program Project Team, consisting of Ruth Bello, Margaret Dougherty, Stacey Rizza, M.D., and Nicole Schaub, received a Mayo Clinic Excellence Through Teamwork award in recognition of exemplary teamwork skills that go beyond that of normal job responsibilities and obtain outcomes that positively affect the organization.

The MCSHS Career Immersion Program brought 36 Minnesota high school students to Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus for a one-week career immersion into nontraditional health care roles. Students met health science professionals in many fields to learn how they contribute critical knowledge and expertise to a patient’s diagnosis, treatment plan and follow-up care. Ideally, these students will return to Mayo Clinic to study in a Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences program and become Mayo staff.
