Michael and Michelle Harris-Love receive 2017 Dale Shaffer Outstanding Alumnus Award from Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Alumni Association
Michelle Harris-Love, Ph.D. (PT ’97), and Michael Harris-Love (PT ’97), were awarded the 2017 Dale Shaffer Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Alumni Association. They are the first couple to receive the award.
Michelle Harris-Love received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 2004 and is an associate professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Her clinical expertise is in the area of post-stroke recovery of arm function.
Michael Harris-Love received his doctorate of health science at the University of Indianapolis (Indiana) is a principal investigator at the Washington, D.C., VA Medical Center and an associate clinical professor at the Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, D.C. His area of expertise is with inflammatory muscle disease, sarcopenia/muscle-related age disorders and rare neuromuscular disorders.
The Dale Shaffer Award was established in 1999 to recognize physical therapy alumni for outstanding contribution in the field of physical therapy. Criteria include practice, research, education, leadership, innovation, participation in the Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy Alumni Association and professional organizations, and community service.
